During the August 2023 Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company showcased some new trailers for the upcoming DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.

The most important DLC news is that every previous starter Pokémon will be available to catch! This is a first for the Pokémon series. Normally the starter Pokémon are excessively rare, and not obtained in the wild.

Only recently have the same gen starter Pokémon become available later in the game, with a scattering of past starters depending on the game. And there was always trading. But now, catching ever starter will be far easier.

There have always been three starter Pokémon in each main generation. Through 10 generations, that makes 30 starter Pokémon, from Bulbasaur to Turtwig.

There’s one catch; the starters are specifically available during the second half of the staggered DLC, Part 2: The Indigo Disk.

Part 1: The Teal Mask is set to release on September 13, while The Indigo Disk will release later this winter.

The news also revealed two new Paradox Pokémon arriving with the DLC. Raging Bolt is a primitive version of Legendary Pokémon Raikou, and will appear in Pokémon Scarlet, while Violet’s equivalent is Iron Crown, a cyber version of Cobalion.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available exclusively on Nintendo Switch. They’re rated E for Everyone.
