During the latest Pokémon Presents, the original uber-legendary Pokémon Mew and Mewtwo were announced for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Mew can be obtained via a Mystery Gift download, while Mewtwo will be a 7-star Tera Raid Battle.

To receive Mew, simply access the Mystery Gift option via the Poké Portal (you must have reached the first Pokémon Center to access this feature). Then enter the following Mystery Gift Password: GETY0URMEW.

Mew will be level 5, but otherwise feature a random Tera Type, Nature, and Move Set.

Mew’s Mystery Gift code will expire on September 18.

Getting Mewtwo will be far more challenging. You’ll need to battle a special 7-star Tera Raid Battle, between August 31 and September 17.

Seven star battles are the top tier in challenges, and typically requires every participant to be at level 100, with advantageous Type and move sets.

To prepare for Mewtwo, trainers can participate in two mini-events. The first features 5-star Tera Raid Battles with Scizor, Blissey, and Hydreigon, and runs from now through August 17.

The second features Blissey, Hatterene, and Grimmsnarl, running August 17-31. Both events will run again August 31 through September 17.

Using your newly obtained Mew might be a good idea as well. The developers tease “something special” when Mew battles its scarier cousin.

Mewtwo can only be caught once per save data. If you miss your chance, it will probably make a return at some point in the future.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch. They’re rated E for Everyone.
