The Pokémon Company has teased the first new Pokémon reveal since Scarlet and Violet. This yet unnamed Pokémon will be found in the upcoming Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.

The adorable turtle-like Pokémon resembles the Legendary Pokémon Terapagos, one of the new Legendary Pokémon coming in Part 2: The Indigo Disk, of the two-part DLC release.

This Pokémon is probably a pre-evolutionary version, or a close relative. It’s much smaller, and features a crystalline shell. When threatened it can pull its head and limbs into its shell, like a turtle, forming the appearance of a jewel.

I’d guess that its name will have something to do with “crystal,” “jewel,” or “gem.”

The Pokémon recently premiered in Pokémon Horizons: The Series, which is currently airing in Japan (pictured above). The new series, which comes off the monumental end of the Ash Ketchum saga, will release worldwide later this year.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will release in two parts later this year. Part 1: The Teal Mask, will release in the fall, and Part 2: The Indigo Disk, will arrive later this winter. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
