Hotta Studios has confirmed the release date for free-to-play MMORPG Tower of Fantasy on PlayStation. Tower of Fantasy will release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 8.

Tower of Fantasy is commonly compared to Genshin Impact, with its third-person hack-and-slash action, large open world, and colorful anime characters.

Tower of Fantasy explores a sci-fi setting, however, and instead of collecting and swapping characters on-the-fly, players earn and swap weapons. You can also create your own original, customizable character.

The PlayStation version features 4K resolution graphics, and supports integrated haptic feedback with the Dual Sense controller. Although it’s free to play, the PlayStation version technically isn’t.

The Standard Edition ($10.99) includes a monthly pass (with daily unlocks) as well as 1000 Tanium. There is also a Deluxe Edition ($49.99) and an Ultimate Edition ($99.99) which include more Tanium, unique outfits and avatars, Premium Boxes, and 48-hour early access.

The game drops alongside the 3.1 update, which adds the new Cloudpeak Manor zone, and the Black Crow Dark Wretch boss. Also a virtual horse racing event, apparently!

Tower of Fantasy is also available on PC, and Android and iOS mobile devices. It’s rated T for Teen.
