Dave has a lot to be excited about. The quirky indie game, Dave the Diver, which recently released on Steam only 10 days ago, has reached an impressive milestone of 1 million copies sold. It also features a Steam review rating of Overwhelmingly Positive with over 28,000 reviews, and nearly 100,000 peak concurrent players. Wow!

Dave the Diver is a “hybrid marine adventure,” mixing 2D and 3D sea exploration with sim tycoon management.

Ocean enthusiast Dave is hired to explore a mysterious area in the ocean known as the Blue Hole. He can fish, catalog new sea creatures, and help the newly discovered Sea People.

At night, Dave works at a sushi restaurant, using ingredients from newly collected sea creatures in a cooking minigame. Money raised can be used to upgrade Dave’s equipment to explore more of the Blue Hole.

If Dave dies while exploring the Blue Hole, he loses all his acquired items, making the gameplay a rogue-lite on top of everything else.

Dave the Diver has be in Early Access for nearly a year before the 1.0 launch. Indie developer Mintrocket continues to address player feedback and providing bug fixes.

“I appreciate the community so much for being active and providing crucial feedback,” said Jaeho Hwang, director, Mintrocket. “We improved a lot of systems and found bugs thanks to them. Thanks everyone for being there with us on this journey!”

Dave the Diver is currently available on PC (Steam), with a Switch release due later this year.
