Animal Crossing by way of animated Disney worlds and characters sounds like a winning formula. That’s what Disney and Gameloft are banking on with the announcement of Disney Dreamlight Valley, a free-to-play life sim coming to Early Access this summer on PC and consoles.

Dreamlight Valley is a magical place where every Disney character converges, from Mickey Mouse to Moana. The peaceful valley is under assault by nasty Night Thorns through an event called The Forgetting. It’s up to players to help rid the town of these thorns and restore everyone’s memories.

Each character has their own story arcs and activities to accomplish. Fish with Goofy, cook with Remy, and grow vegetables with Wall-E’s garden.

Players will also be able to design their own Disney villages. Multiple objects, outfits, furniture and more can be thrown together from Disney and Pixar worlds.

“Our development team is a big family of Disney and Pixar fans and have poured all of our passion into the development of Disney Dreamlight Valley, especially in the way we depict characters and their story arcs,” said Manea Castet, Game Manager, Gameloft Montreal. “We can’t wait for fans to join the Early Access this summer and help us bring this new ever-evolving Disney and Pixar-inspired world to our excited community.”

Disney Dreamlight Valley will release in 2023 as a free-to-play adventure on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Mac), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Early Access will be available starting this summer for those who purchase a Founder’s Pack, or subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. During Early Access, players can earn exclusive rewards, and everything carries over to the full launch next year.

It’s rated E for Everyone.
