Slime Rancher’s charming art style, secret-filled world, and myriad of slimes to capture, feed, and breed made it a darling hit when it released in 2017. The first-person action-farming game also makes for a fun single player family game (our review). We’re very excited about the announcement of Slime Rancher 2, coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.

Slime Rancher 2 expands into a full open-world gameplay across Rainbow Island, a new world filled with new secrets, technologies, and plenty of new slimes.

Beatrix is leaving her traditional ranching in the dust for a fancy glass conservatory. There she can unload captured slimes into habitats to harvest their plorts, grow crops to feed slimes, and build new tools and facilities to create new slime-combinations.

Another big change for the sequel is under the hood. Slime Rancher 2 is being developed exclusively for next-gen hardware, including dynamic lighting, vibrant shaders, and more interesting physics between slimes, with up to 4K resolution.

Slime Rancher 2 will launch next year on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The original Slime Rancher was exclusive to Xbox and PC for one year, then released on PlayStation 4 in 2018. ESRB rating is still pending, but the original game was rated E10+.
