The Lunar New Year is this Friday, and Valentine’s Day is coming this Sunday. Why not celebrate with the best city builder series since the legendary SimCity? Paradox Interactive has announced that Cities: Skylines is free to play on Steam from now until February 14.

Cities: Skylines was developed by Colossal Order and released back in 2015 as a response to the disappointing SimCity (2013). The result was a big success, becoming the best modern city management game. It was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017, and Nintendo Switch in 2018.

An educational version was also released in 2018, designed for use in classrooms to teach civics and city planning.

In the nearly six years since its launch, Paradox has released a dozen expansion packs. The most recent, Sunset Harbor, added new transportation options and a fishing industry.

If you enjoy the game, and want to nab some expansions, now is a great time. The base game and Deluxe Edition are 75% off, while every single expansion major expansion and tiny content pack are 50% off. There are also several bundles with different combinations of the base game and expansion packs, including a New Player bundle for $21.11 (66% off).

The free-to-play promotion ends February 14. Cities: Skylines is rated E for Everyone.
