We’re all desperately looking forward to the end of 2020, except Slowpoke. The eternally slow pokémon can be found during the New Year’s event in Pokémon GO sporting 2020 glasses. That’s not funny, Slowpoke!

Beginning December 31 at 10 pm local time, the Pokémon GO New Year event will begin, providing double the candy and stardust when hatching pokémon, and requiring only half the distance to hatch eggs in the incubator.

In addition to finding painfully unfunny Slowpokes, you’ll also find the evovled form Slowbro wearing the more appropriate 2021 glasses. And Pikachu (and Pichu) won’t be left out of a good hat-wearing event. Pichu wearing a New Year’s hat can be hatched from 2km eggs, while hat-wearing Pikachu can be found in the wild and after completing the special Field Research task. If you evolve Pichu or Pikachu into Raichu, the hat will evolve with it.

Party hat wearing Eevee can be earned during the Field Research, while Raticate, Wobbuffet, and Wurmple will wear party hats in one-star raids, along with Klink and Espurr. Party hats and 2021 glasses will also be available as avatar items in the shop.

The New Year event will end Monday, January 4, 2021. January will also feature a Season of Celebration, with events spotlighting different Pokémon regions and increasing the pokémon found in those regions each week.

Pokémon Go is free to play on iOS and Android mobile devices.
