Skylanders: Ring of Heroes launched almost exactly two years ago as a mobile free-to-play spin-off of the Skylanders franchise. Developer Com2uS has released a revamped and revised version, rebooting the original game.

Skylanders: Ring of Heroes is still a free-to-play RPG, but the new version drops the hybrid combat that mixed real-time with turn-based in favor of fully turn-based tactical combat.

Watch the new animated trailer above, which reminds me that the Skylanders Netflix cartoon is really dang good.

In Ring of Heroes 2.0 there’s now a greater emphasis on the players as Portal Masters, which possess unique skills that enhance combat and team-building. Other improved mechanics include easier to acquire Skylanders, equipping and improving Skylanders, and the ability to conserve mana when fighting.

If you were still playing Ring of Heroes your progress was also rebooted, but assuming you play the new version with the same account, you should be compensated upon logging into the new version.

Skylanders Ring of Heroes is free-to-download with in-app purchases on iOS and Android. It’s rated E10+.
