Square Enix has announced a sequel to The World Ends With You. NEO: The World Ends With You is coming next summer for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

NEO returns to the streets of Sibuya, Japan, this time with an all new cast of young anime heroes. Central hero Rinaldo competes in the Reaper’s Game, a twisted game show battle of life and death. Between battles Rinaldo can explore the faithful 3D recreation of the modern Japanese city with the game’s comic-inspired character panels and art style.

The original The World Ends With You released on the Nintendo DS in 2007. It was notable for successfully utilizing the dual screen display, stylus, and even microphone with the action-RPG gameplay. It was later ported to mobile devices (iOS and Android). In 2018 an enhanced port was released for the Nintendo Switch as The World Ends With You: Final Remix.

NEO: The World Ends With You is coming Summer 2021 to PlayStation 4 and Switch. A PlayStation 5 version has not been announced (but presumably still playable on the PS5), and the game has not yet been rated by the ESRB. The original was rated T for Teen.
