The highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake is launching April 10. Square Enix has begun rolling out a video series documenting the making of the remake. The first video, Inside Final Fantasy 7 Remake – Episode 1: Introduction, is available now.

The 20-minute video doesn’t have a singular theme or focus, but acts as an overarching introduction to the original game’s history and the work behind the remake. The video includes insight and interviews from the following developers:

  • Yoshinori Kitase (Producer)
  • Tetsuya Nomura (Director & Concept Design)
  • Kazushige Nojima (Story & Scenario)
  • Naoki Hamaguchi (Co-Director – Game Design / Programming)
  • Motomu Toriyama (Co-Director – Scenario Design)

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is modern re-creation of the original 1997 RPG, or at least the first portions set in the industrial city of Midgar. The Remake has been rebuilt using Unreal Engine 4, and features a more modern combat system similar to 2016’s Final Fantasy 15.

Square Enix had previously released a making-of Inside Final Fantasy video for Final Fantasy 9, which re-released on Switch and Xbox One last year.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is launching exclusively on PlayStation 4 on April 10. It’s rated T for Teen. A free demo is available to download on the PlayStation Store, which features the opening bombing mission. Note that progress made in the demo will not carry over to the full game. Those who purchase the game by May 11 will also receive an exclusive PlayStation theme.
