Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced a new mythical pokémon for Pokémon Sword and Shield, Zarude.

Zarude is a Dark/Grass Type that looks like an evil monkey (and is known as the Rogue Monkey Pokémon). Here’s the official description:

This Mythical Pokémon lives in a pack deep in the dense forests of Galar. It treats anyone that isn’t part of its pack with immediate hostility. When fighting, Zarude swings around from tree branches, attacking relentlessly with its sharp claws. Its quick wit helps it excel in battles.

Like most mythical pokémon, Zarude cannot normally be encountered in the game. Mythical pokémon are typically acquired through events such as mystery gifts that let you download them directly.

No information has been announced on how to acquire Zarude, other than to confirm its existence, and to tease that more details will be forthcoming.

Another rare but not-quite-mythical pokémon, Mewtwo, will be available in Max Raid Battles beginning today until March 1. This powerful dynamax pokémon can’t actually be caught (boo), but defeating Mewtwo in battle will reward rare items like ability capsules. Trainers can also encounter dynamax versions of the original Gen 1 starters in Max Raid Battles, and have a chance to capture them upon defeat.

Pokémon Sword and Shield is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
