It’s Luigi’s time to shine again in Luigi’s Mansion 3, out now exclusively on Nintendo Switch in retail stores and on the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo has released a lengthy 5+ minute overview video that describes the gameplay and multiplayer modes, but beware of spoilers.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 stars Mario’s oft-supporting role brother as he rescues the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom family from the haunted Last Resort hotel. The towering hotel is home to many different themed areas and boss battles.

As in previous games in the series, Luigi is equipped with a special vacuum-like weapon for battling ghosts – the Poltergust G-OO. Aside from sucking up ghosts, coins, and manipulating the environment to solve puzzles, the G-OO can also create a squishy copy of Luigi, called Gooigi, who can access new areas. Players can swap between the two forms, or use a second local player, adding local co-op support to the series.

An entirely new multiplayer mode is also available, the ScareScraper. Up to four players locally or up to eight players online can work together to explore the randomly generated hotel and reach the highest floor. For competitive play, the ScreamPark offers Mario Party-like mini-games as Team Luigi faces off against Team Gooigi. Note that online multiplayer requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is available now on Nintendo Switch. It’s rated E for Everyone with Comic Mischief and Mild Cartoon Violence.
