Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown is live now on PC (Origin), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Meltdown adds an entirely new map, as well as the 11th new playable character, Crypto.

The new map is World’s Edge, a wasteland brought about by volcanoes and a chemical explosion. The ravaged area is now covered in both ice and lava. World’s Edge is the first new map since the original map, King’s Canyon, launched with the game earlier this year.

Crypto is the newest legend, and the second post-launch hero to be added to the roster. He’s a hacker and surveillance expert shrouded in mystery. His passive ability, Neurolink, allows him to detect enemies and share their location with his teammates when using his tactical ability, Surveillance Drone. By deploying the aerial drone Crypto gains a birds-eye view of an area. His ultimate ability, Drone EMP, turns his drone into an explosion that damages shields, slows enemies, and disables traps.

A new season allows means a new Battle Pass. The Season 3 Battle Pass includes new Daily and Weekly Challenges, rewards, and legendary items. Purchasing the Battle Pass instantly unlocks the Legendary Reckoner DMR. Even if you don’t purchase the Battle Pass, you can still earn a few items for free, including the new Freezer Burn Caustic Skin, and up to five Apex Packs.

Apex Legends is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s rated T for Teen.
