Beloved indie developer Double Fine Productions is releasing their newest game, Rad, next week on August 20 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Rad is an isometric, roguelike action-RPG set in a neon-soaked, irradiated post-apocalyptic world called the Fallow. You play as a random teenage hero who can use the world’s radiation as a weapon to power themselves.

The Fallow features a series of randomly generated stages and enemies. As you gain rads you acquire new random mutations that grant new abilities or buffs, such as toxic resistance or wings. Death is permanent however, and you’ll have to start over with another plucky teen hero and try out a new set of mutations.

In addition to the live, die, repeat campaign, Rad also includes daily challenges with leaderboards for completing runs with unique settings.

Rad is published by Bandai Namco, as it was in development before Double Fine Productions was acquired by Microsoft earlier this year.

Rad will launch on August 20 on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One. If you pre-order you’ll receive the joystick bat and character styles. Rad is rated T for Teen for Fantasy Violence, Language, and Mild Blood.
