Publisher 11 Bit Studios (Frostpunk, Moonlighter) has announced the release dates for their roguelike RPG, Children of Morta. Children of Morta is dropping on September 3 on PC (Steam, GOG, Humble). The console version will arrive on PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 15. A new trailer was also released.

Children of Morta is a pixelated roguelike dungeon crawler starring the Bergson family. Six members of the family are playable, each with their own distinctive abilities and play style. The family delves into dungeons, forests, and mountains battling the forces of Corruption. Each area is randomly generated and constantly changing, and co-op multiplayer supports up to two players.

What sets the game apart from the myriad of indie roguelikes is the focus on characters and emotional storytelling. The Bergson family will need to lean on each other to survive the trials to come. Even non-playable family members play a pivotal role. Grandma Margaret and Uncle Ben act as the ability and equipment upgraders respectively.

Children of Morta will release digitally on PC on September 3, and consoles on October 15. A special physical version will also be available for Switch and PlayStation 4, including an art book and enamel character pins.
