One of our standout indie games from PAX South earlier this year is mowing its way out of Steam Early Access later this spring. Mowin’ & Throwin’ will launch on PC (Steam) as well as PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Mowin’ & Thrown’ is a competitive mowing game for 1v1 or 2v2 game modes, with both online and local multiplayer. The screen is divided in half between the two teams. The goal is to mow the most of of grass before time runs out. The arcade shared-screen gameplay is like a competitive version of Overcooked.

Naturally you play as hyper aggressive garden gnomes who can do more than just mow the lawn. Items will drop from the sky, such as fertilizer, gasoline, and rocks. Fertilizer can be thrown to regrow grass on your opponents’ lawn, while rocks will impede their mowing until they’re manually removed.

Multiple lawns are available, each with different challenges and environmental features, such as elevators, water, and thunderstorms.

Mowin’ & Throwin’ has been on Steam Early Access since July 2018, with the 1v1 mode added in August. The current Early Access price is $19.99. It has not been rated by the ESRB but appears light-hearted and family-friendly.
