For real this time.

Probably.

Nikkei reports that Hideo Kojima is currently starting his own studio, and is speaking to Sony about partnership. Perhaps this will finally put an end to the “he said-they said” that’s been going on between Kojima and Konami for the past few months.

First Silent Hills was canceled and PT was pulled from distribution, then the Kojima Productions logo was taken off Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, then Konami was like “nahhhhh, everything is fine.” Most recently, Kojima wasn’t present at the Game Awards and Konami seems to be to blame.

So is this the straw that breaks the camel’s back? Will Konami finally admit that the company and Kojima are parting ways?

Who knows!

Best of luck to Kojima on starting his own studio and getting back to work.
