Square Enix confirmed today that Marvel’s Avengers will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X this Holiday season. The highly anticipated action game is first releasing for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia on September 4.

For gamers who plan on picking up a next-gen console but don’t want to wait on Marvel’s Avengers, you’ll be able to upgrade to the next-gen version for free. The only catch is the upgrade must be from PlayStation 4 to 5 or from Xbox One to Xbox One X. The upgraded versions will also feature cross-gen play, so PS5 users can play with PS4 friends, and likewise with the Xbox One X.

On next-gen consoles players will enjoy faster load times thanks to the solid state drive, as well as improved texturing, ray tracing, 3D audio, and increased resolution and overall graphical fidelity. Players will be able to choose between enhanced graphics mode or high framerate mode.

Square Enix is hosting a Marvel’s Avengers War Table stream tomorrow, June 24, at 10 am Pacific/1 pm Eastern at the official Avengers website. The stream will showcase new gameplay content, including co-op.

Marvel’s Avengers will release on September 4 on current hardware, and later this Holiday season on PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X. It is currently pending a rating from the ESRB.

Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed to September

CD Projekt Red posted an update regarding Cyberpunk 2077‘s release date. Bad news! It’s been pushed back from April to September 17.

Co-found Marcin Iwinski and head of studio Adam Badowski posted the following statement:

We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done. Night city is massive – full of stories, content, and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing, and polishing. We Want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us the precious months we need to make the game perfect.

This should come as good news for fans of both Final Fantasy and Cyberpunk, however. The highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake was also recently delayed from March to April 10.

CD Projekt Red is best known for The Witcher series, especially 2015’s massive RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Cyberpunk 2077 is a similarly large-scale, open world, single player RPG, but trades in swords and magic for cybernetics and cars.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now due out on September 17 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.

The future is increasingly streaming, and Google is going all-in with Stadia, their all-streaming home console, launching today with a $129.99 Premiere Edition.

The Stadia Premiere Edition includes one controller, one Google Chromecast Ultra, and three months of Stadia Pro. Stadia Pro is normally a $9.99 monthly subscription that allows up to 4K resolution and 5.1 surround sound, as well as offering game discounts and occasional free games, beginning with Destiny 2: The Collection.

Note for 4K streaming you will need a 4K capable TV.

A non-subscription version, called Stadia Base, will be launching next year. Stadia Base will only support up to 1080p and stereo sound. Both versions will support up to 60 frames per second.

As a streaming console, Stadia allows you to play games that rely entirely on your internet connection, rather than hardware. The main issue, is that your internet speed needs to be rock-solid in order to equal the experience by a regular console.
