We quite enjoyed Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, but it also has some issues that Firaxis Games is all-too aware. The developer has released a Development Roadmap Plan for Civ 7, revealing their top fixes and priorities over the next several weeks.
Patch 1.1 arrives this week, adding some balance changes, bug fixes, AI improvements, and the first half of the Crossroads of the World DLC.
The highlight fix is to the Culture Victory in the Modern Age. Natural wonders can now be studied for Artifacts, and the Future Civic policy can be repeated for more artifacts. Explorer Units now also cost more, and fewer artifacts spawn in the Exploration Age. The AI has also been given a boost, and should compete better at achieving a Culture Victory.
Crossroads of the World adds new leader Ada Lovelace, who synergizes Science with Culture. The DLC also adds Antiquity Age civ Carthage, and Modern Age civ Great Britain. Carthage can only have a single city (but still found towns), while Great Britain features cheaper buildings and a powerful navy.
Patch 1.1.1 will arrive later this month, adding Quick Move, better map generation, and additional UI updates. Patch 1.2 will finally add multiplayer teams, research queuing, and more when it arrives in April.
The interface has been a major sticking point among Civ fans, and it’s telling that “UI updates” are a part of all the patches.
Civilization 7 is available on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox. It’s rated E10+.
