Final Fantasy 16 is launching on June 22, but you can play the free demo right now, exclusively on PlayStation 5.

The demo features the opening prologue of the story. Warrior Clive Rosfield is bodyguard to his younger brother Joshua, who possesses the Eikon Phoenix. Clive begins his grand adventure after a tragic event puts him on a quest for vengeance against the Dark Eikon known as Ifrit.

After completing the prologue, demo players unlock a special battle demo. The battle demo grants a taste of higher-level combat, with many of Clive’s abilities unlocked, letting players play around with different attacks and combos.

Progress made during the prologue will carry over to the full game.

Alongside the demo, a new trailer, “Ascension,” was also released (above), combining in-game cutscenes with some awesome combat moves.

But Square Enix wasn’t done yet! During the Final Fantasy 16 Pre-Launch Celebration in LA this week, they also revealed a new live action short film, “Requiem.” It’s directed by Diego Contreras, with a score by game composer Masayoshi Soken.

Final Fantasy 16 is rated M for Mature with blood and gore, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong violence, and language. It’s releasing exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 22.
