In not-so-shocking news, a hugely anticipated game from a major studio has been delayed. Bethesda Studios announced that Starfield, originally set to launch later this November, has been delayed “to the first half of 2023,” along with vampire-themed co-op shooter Redfall (originally scheduled to launch this fall).

The teams at Arkane Austin and Bethesda Game Studios have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them.

We want to thank everyone for their excitement for Redfall and Starfield. That energy is a huge part of what inspires all of us ever day and drives our own excitement for what we are creating.

We can’t wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for both Redfall and Starfield soon.

Starfield is a first-person sci-fi RPG from Bethesda Game Studios, best known for The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series. Starfield will be the first single-player RPG developed by Bethesda since 2015’s Fallout 4, and the studio’s first completely new intellectual property in over two decades.

The original release date of November 11, 2022 for Starfield is the 11th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skryim.

Starfield was first announced back in 2018, along with The Elder Scrolls VI. We still know very little about both games, but Starfield has been described as Skyrim in Space. An in-game teaser trailer was finally shown during last year’s E3.

Starfield and Redfall will release next year (tentatively) for PC and Xbox Series X/S. It’s worth noting that neither delayed game was given a new release date beyond the first half of next year. Here’s hoping we’ll see them soon!
