One year after it was first announced, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX finally has a release date. The remake of the 1986 platformer will release June 22, 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Swithc, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S ($19.99). Watch the new Greetings from Miracle World trailer above.

In the fantasy Kingdom of Radaxian, Alex must save the citizens from the evil Janken the Great, using his Power Bracelet to smash and punch everything in his way.

Alex is getting a full visual upgrade from his humble 8-bit beginnings, as well as new levels, better boss fights, improved controls, and a retro mode to experience the original Sega Master System platformer.

New levels build on the lore of the original, while boss battles are much more intuitive. New modes include Boss Rush, where Alex faces off against a string of bosses and…. duels them in a game of rock-paper-scissors. An optional Classic mode lets fans play the original game, including boss fights, dialogue, and levels. The remake also includes new and remastered music tracks.

The original Alex Kidd in Miracle World made waves as Sega’s answer to Super Mario Bros. in the 1980s, though Alex’s popularity both as a game and a potential system mascot soon waned in favor of a certain blue hedgehog in the 16-bit era.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX will release on PC and consoles on June 22, 2021.
