Electronic Arts and developer BioWare have released one of the most anticipated HD remasters of the generation. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is out now on PC (Origin, Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One (and backwards compatible with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S).
Legendary Edition includes all three games of the original beloved sci-fi RPG series, fully remastered with 4K Ultra HD resolution support, including over 40 DLC expansions and packs.
“There’s never been a better opportunity to experience the epic story of the original trilogy, whether you’re new to the franchise, or looking to replay it for the 10th time,” said Mac Walters, Project Director and lead writer, BioWare. “This isn’t just a passion project for our team at BioWare, it’s something we know the fans have wanted for a very long time, and we’ve dedicated all of our efforts to make sure every enhancement we’ve made to this iconic journey feels like Mass Effect. We could not be more excited to share this moment with our fans around the world and look forward to hearing their personal stories as Shepard again.”
The remasters feature tens of thousands of improved textures, shaders, and VFX, updated lighting, dynamic shadows, depth of field, and remastered character models. Players will be able to choose to run the games in Performance or Quality modes, focusing on framerate or graphics.
Additionally, all three games now feature a unified character creator, making it easier to create and import your custom Shepard across all three games. The first game, which originally released back in 2007, has been given a modernized upgrade with improved UI and interface, better combat, aiming, and AI, and a visual overhaul to level design.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is available now on PC and consoles. It’s rated M for Mature.
