During the Ubisoft Forward September 2020 broadcast, Ubisoft dropped some major details about Immortals Fenyx Rising, formerly known as Gods & Monsters. The Zelda-like action-adventure RPG will release December 3 on PC and consoles.

Immortals Fenyx Rising stars Greek Hero Fenyx and the mythological setting of the Golden Isle. The Golden Isle is an open world playground of ancient buildings, aqueducts, and a massive volcano that serves as the prison for the Titan Typhon.

Fenyx can gain powers from the gods themselves. She can climb mountains and soar through the air using the Wings of Daidalos. The power of Herakles allows her to grab objects, while Apollo’s Arrow lets her control arrows in flight. Fenyx is also accompanied by her literal phoenix companion Phosphorous, who can grants several useful powers like invisibility, and she can ride across the isle with her trusty clockwork steed.

The gameplay comparisons to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are undeniable. Especially the mini-dungeons called Tartaros Rifts, which can be found throughout the world as red glowing holes in the ground.

The Zelda-like action game was first announced at E3 2019 as Gods & Monsters, by the team who made 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

In addition to the above trailer, the Ubisoft Forward event also included a longer, in-depth look at gameplay for Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Immortals Fenyx Rising will release December 3 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
