Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 made its debut on mobile devices on the iPad in 2017, then on supported iPhones in 2018. Non iOS mobile users have been left patiently waiting, until today. Civilization 6 has finally been released on Android mobile devices. It’s available now as a free trial download on the Google Play store.

Originally released in 2016 on Windows and Mac, Civ 6 is the latest in the popular historical turn-based strategy series. Players choose among real world cultures and empires to build, expand, conquer, and advance their way toward victory in scripted scenarios or randomly generated maps.

In Civ 6, cities take up real physical space in the hex-map world, spreading outward and using districts to boost research and resources.

“For those who love strategy games, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is a die-hard, must-play classic that until now, wasn’t an option for Android users,” says Elizabeth Howard, vice president of publishing at Aspyr. “That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that this epic world is now available for Android gamers to enjoy for the first time ever.”

The free download on the store is basically a demo, offering s limited 60 turns in a pre-made map. Unlocking the full game costs $19.99. Major expansions Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm ($29.99 – $39.99) are also available as in-app purchases, as well as smaller Civilization and Scenario packs ($4.99 – $8.99).

Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 is also available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’s rated E10+.
