Microsoft’s E3-style showcase aired today. The hour-long Xbox Games Showcase featured over 20 trailers and announcements for upcoming games for Xbox Series X launching this Holiday season and beyond, including Halo Infinite, Fable, and Avowed.

Best of all – most of these games are coming to Xbox Games Pass, and every Xbox Games Studio game, like Halo Infinite, will play on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Watch the full showcase above and enjoy our highlight reel of new games below.

Halo Infinite

The headlining news was our first good look at Halo Infinite, the highly anticipated next chapter in the sci-fi shooter series. Halo Infinite had been announced two years ago at E3 2018 with a cinematic trailer. During the Xbox Games Showcase we were treated to our first taste of gameplay and the opening moments of the campaign.

Halo Infinite promises to take the classic action, shooting, and driving gameplay into a more open world setting, taking place on a Halo ring that is larger than the last two Halo games combined.

Fable

The surprise announcement of a new Fable game in development ended the Xbox Games Showcase. It’s being developed by Playground Games (Forza Horizon) and looks to continue the RPG series’ bawdy, irreverent take on the genre.

Release: TBA

State of Decay 3

I’m a big fan of the State of Decay series, which expand upon the zombie survival genre with randomly generated survivors, base-building, resource-collection, and community management. The cinematic trailer for State of Decay 3 reveals at least two new concepts: extreme wilderness and zombified animals.

Release: TBA

Forza Motorsport

Forza Motorsport is still “early in development” but promises gorgeous racing with 4K resolution, 60 frames per second, and ray tracing to create the most immersive racing sim yet.

Release: TBA

Avowed

Obsidian Entertainment has been incredibly busy lately, with an expansion to last year’s shooter-RPG The Outer Worlds, the imminent release of co-op survival game Grounded, and now a tease for a big-budget first-person fantasy RPG, Avowed. We don’t know anything about it yet, but it looks a lot like Skyrim, and Obsidian is darn good at crafting RPGs.

Release: TBA

Everwild

Everwild was announced last year at X019, and continues to impress with a new trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase. Developed by Rare (Sea of Thieves), Everwild has you playing as an Eternal charged with watching over and nurturing the natural world.

Tell Me Why is the next series by award-winning narrative-adventure developers Dontnod Entertaimnet (Life is Strange). Twins Tyler and Alyson use their supernatural bond to interact with their past, exploring the memories of their troubled childhood in small-town Alaska.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon

The best shooter-RPG since Fallout 4, The Outer Worlds is getting its first major DLC expansion with Peril on Gorgon. Players will journey to the Gorgon Asteroid and find new loot, perks, flaws, and plenty of the game’s signature humor.

Grounded

Grounded is a co-op survival adventure with a big twist – or should I say small? You’ve been shrunk to the size of an ant, and must survive a backyard full of insects. You’ll need to gather supplies and build bases to survive long enough to learn how to return to normal size.

Release: July 28

The Medium

The showcase revealed a new, extended trailer for The Medium, a mysterious horror-action game. Two realities collide at an old communist resort, where you’ll need to use psychic abilities to solve puzzles and survive against angry spirits.

The Gunk

From the makers of the excellent SteamWorld series comes The Gunk, an adventure game set in an alien world full of enemies and puzzles. Sadly it doesn’t appear to star cute personable robots, but you do have a fancy arm-vacuum for cleaing up the titular mess.

The follow-up to 2015’s Warhammer Vermintide and 2018’s Vermintide 2 comes a new four player co-op game set in the popular sci-fi-fantasy universe of Warhammer 40k. The co-op first person shooter takes place in hive Tertium, and will release some time next year.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

The STALKER series is making its console debut with Xbox Series X. STALKER 2 combines first-person shooting with survival horror and the immersive sim genre that takes place in an alternate reality where the Chernobyl nuclear disaster created mutations and psychic abilities.

The highly anticipated sequel to Double Fine’s mind-exploring, cult classic action-platformer Psychonauts received some nifty celebrity news in the Xbox Games Showcase – the inclusion of musician, singer, and actor Jack Black.
