Capcom has released the first free post-launch update for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, adding new end-game content including new monster, Rajang. The update is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners of Iceborne. Check out the full developer breakdown video below.

The large horned lion-primate Rajang is the main attraction, a fan-favorite from previous Monster Hunter games. Rajang is fast, powerful, and very aggressive. On top of that it can enter a rage mode where its fur turns gold and it strikes with thunder element powers. Hunters who can fell this beast can craft new gold and black furred armor with superior offensive abilities.

The update also adds a new end-game area called The Guiding Lands, which is only accessible after beating the main story content in Iceborne. The Guiding Lands remixes areas from the base game, including The Ancient Forest and the Rotten Vale. Individual areas within The Guiding Lands have their own research level that increases by hunting and investigating monsters. The higher the Region Level, the more monsters, including unique monsters, can be found there. Some monsters, like Zinogre, will only appear upon reaching a certain Region Level.

Aside from using biomes from previous zones, The Guiding Lands also adds a whole new biome, the Volcanic Region. The Volcanic Region will become available once players have started the quest to first battle Rajang.

Materials gathered from The Guiding Lands can also be used to craft layered armor, which was a new feature added in Iceborne that changes your visual outfit without altering your stats.

If you want to take a break from all this high-end hunting, the update also adds the ability to visit other hunters’ rooms.

Capcom is planning on releasing a steady stream of post-launch updates for Iceborne, with the next major update scheduled for November. The next update will include cross-promotional collaborations featuring Resident Evil and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is rated T for Teen. It’s available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and coming January 2020 to PC.
