Jam City and Portkey Games have announced the official release date for mobile game Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. It’s launching globally April 25 on iOS and Android.
An impressive stable of actors from the Harry Potter film series has also been announced for the game. Numerous professors will be reprising their roles as players attend classes at Hogwarts.
- Dame Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall)
- Michael Gambon (Professor Dumbledore)
- Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick)
- Sally Mortemore (Madam Irma Pince)
- Gemma Jones (Madam Pomfrey)
- Zoe Wanamaker (Madam Hooch)
“If I could attend Hogwarts as a student, I would be most excited to attend the potions class taught by Severus because it is the most exotic,” said Dame Maggie Smith, voice of Professor McGonagall.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is described as a “narrative adventure with RPG elements.” Players create a custom student avatar and attend classes, learn magic, and form friendships or rivalries with classmates.
The story takes place in the 1980s, well before Harry Potter arrives at Hogwarts.
“Our goal with Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is to make players really feel for the first time like they’re attending Hogwarts,” said Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City. “By including these iconic and incredibly talented actors in the game, we come one step closer to truly giving fans their own Hogwarts experience.”
