Blizzard has announced a new competition for Hearthstone. It’s called Heroic Tavern Brawl. Unlike previous Tavern Brawls, Heroic is a play-to-play competition designed for highly skilled and competitive players. Sounds hard, but the payout in prizes is huge.
“Heroic Brawl is not for the faint of heart, and is a unique experience meant for the extremely competitive and experienced Hearthstone player,” said a news post on the Hearthsone Website. “We hope that our Heroic Brawl scratches the competitive itch of the players looking for a high risk, high reward experience.”
The new competition will only run for the duration of one Tavern Brawl (Wednesday through Sunday) and will cost $9.99 or 1,000 in-game gold. It’s actually a bit more similar to the Arena than the Tavern Brawl that’s been in the game for awhile now. Players build a Standard a deck from whatever they want. There are no hero or card restrictions outside of the fact that they need to be playable in the Standard mode. The mode runs for 12 wins. But if you lose three times before getting to 12, you’re out, which is the same as the arena.
Perhaps the biggest deal about this mode is the huge payouts players can expect if they do well. If you lose your three games without winning, you’re awarded a single card pack, so there is some definite risk involved in playing this mode. However, if you make it all the way to 12 you get:
- 50 card packs
- 3 golden legendary cards
- 1,095 dust
- 1,105 in-game gold
Just to put that into perspective, 50 card packs would normally set you back $49.99 Blizzard has yet to announce the dates for the new competition.
