Rayman is 20 years old! To honor this bizarre yet enormously fun franchise, Ubisoft hosted a livestream this morning with Rayman creators Michel Ancel and Frédéric Houde. The two chatted with Ubisoft Montpellier community developer Kevin Erwin while playing the original 1995 Rayman. You can watch the whole video above. (Conversation starts about three minutes in.)

Watching the live stream gave me some pretty intense flashbacks. I played the first Rayman on my Gameboy Color back in the day. It was refreshing to see the creators laughing and having fun with the game, just like I did with my sister during long road trips.

Rayman Adventures is the latest installment in the series. The creators start playing the game about 46 minutes into the livestream above. You can see in the video that this new installment incorporated levels focused just on exploration and collection, without any time pressure.

Rayman Adventures is available on Apple TV already, and will be coming out in Android and iOS on December 3. It hasn’t been rated by the ESRB, but all other Rayman games are rated E or E10+.
