Nintendo hosted a new Indie World Showcase for October 2026, highlighting upcoming indie games coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 through 2027.

And, it’s only 20 minutes long!

From the co-creator of beloved platform Celeste comes City of None. City of None is an action-platformer with a unique art style. Each of the five areas use a simple four-color palette, creating a Game Boy-like aesthetic, but with a sprinkling of color. City of None is launching for Switch and Switch 2 in 2027.

Tenjutsu is a top-down, roguelike brawler with fast-paced martial arts combat, from the designer of Dead Cells. One highly trained badass must fight through waves of bad guys to free a city from a crime syndicate. The trailer also features some awesome music and satisfying sound effects. Tenjutsu will release for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

Winds of Viridia is a Zelda-like, open world action-adventure set in a fantastical world. Players can run, slide, grapple, and glide as they search for treasure and battle fearsome monsters. The soundtrack features award-winning composers Kevin Penkin (Tower of God) and Christopher Larkin (Hollow Knight). Winds of Virida is launching in 2027 on Switch 2, with a demo available right now on the eShop.

For those who yearn for more beautiful runner gameplay a la Abzu, look no further than Sword of the Sea, from Abzu developer, Giant Squid. Surfing on a magical Hoversword, players explore deserts, glaciers, and seas, uncovering new paths while working to restore a lost ocean. And yes, Austin Wintory is returning for the soundtrack! Sword of the Sea will release on October 29 on Switch 2.

Classic JRPG Threads of Time looks very much inspired by Chrono Trigger, with its multi-era, time-spanning plot. I’m also digging the HD-2D style pixel art! Threads of Time will release for Switch and Switch 2 in Summer 2027.

Witchbrook, a highly anticipated magic school life sim from Chucklefish (Wargroove), is also coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this lovely co-op life sim for over a year, as they attend Witchbrook College as the newest witch in town. Witchbrook will release on January 28, 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox.

In addition, several new demos for upcoming indies are now up on the Nintendo eShop. Aside from Winds of Viridia, Switch owners can download demos for co-op dog-adventure Haunted Paws, pixelated RPG Petal Runner, and roguelike coin pusher Raccoin: Chaos Mix Edition.
