Global Game Jam is partnering with World Food Program USA to provide support and humanitarian aid after the disastrous earthquakes in Venezuela.

The support will come as a fundraiser from an online virtual game jam. Juntos: Game Jam for Venezuela Earthquake Relief will take place July 24-26. The event is open to everyone, and bilingual in English and Spanish. It’s completely free to participate. Donating is encouraged but voluntary.

The jam will include a virtual kickoff event on Friday, July 24. Submitted games will be featured in a showcase on August 5.

Any funds raised will go directly to World Food Program’s relief efforts.

“Those of us who make video games know that no project comes together on its own: it always takes a team,” said Denyam Noguera, a GGJ organizer in Zulia, Venezuela. “Today, Venezuela needs its one. As a Venezuelan and an organizer of the Global Game Jam, I’m thrilled to see how many of my colleagues across the country are coming together for this cause, and how the global community responded immediately. This jam is proof of something I’ve always believed: video games bring people together to create things of value, even – especially – in the darkest of times.”

Global Game Jam is a nonprofit organization that supports developers and amateurs getting together to experiment, learn, and create games while exploring important topics and ideas.

World Food Program USA is a 5013c organization that mobilizes US government, businesses, and individuals to help end world hunger.
