Ubisoft and Vantage Studio announced that recently released Assassin’s Creed remake, Black Flag Resynced, has already sold two million copies on its first day of launch.

Black Flag Resynced is a remake of the 2013 open world action-adventure game, and the-then fourth main game in the series. Black Flag is set in the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 18th century. Freewheeling pirate Edward Kenway becomes embroiled in a wider plot between the Assassins and Templars around the Caribbean.

The game was widely considered one of the best, if not the best Assassin’s Creed game in a very prolific series (I concur!). It is beloved for its memorable setting and unique sea-based open world, with particularly awesome ship-based controls, management, and exploration.

The remake rebuilds the 2013 game in the more modern Anvil engine. Aside from updated visuals, new features include a more parry-driven combat system, improved stealth and parkour, and newly added narrative content (and thankfully none of the modern Abstergo stuff).

“Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours,” said Martin Schelling, Head of Assassin’s Creed Brand. ”Bringing it back with Resynced was a promise to that passion for Edward’s adventures, and to the unique sense of freedom players experienced back then. Seeing so many players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for.”

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is available in Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The digital-only Deluxe Edition includes the Master Assassins Character Pack and Naval Pack. The Collector’s Edition includes physical collector’s items such as an Edward figurine, wearable metal brooch, and cloth map.

Black Flag Resynced is rated M for Mature.
