Charming tile-laying puzzle game Dorfromantik turns five this year (counting from Early Access), and to celebrate the anniversary, Toukana Interactive has announced new DLC, alongside a free update. The DLC and the update are due to arrive in May or June.

The upcoming DLC is the Medieval Biome Pack. The Biome Pack is purely cosmetic, and changes the landscape tiles and buildings to a more medieval setting. For example, steam boats become sailed trading cogs, and new castle ruin tiles can become full fortresses when completed.

Other than the soundtracks, the Medieval Biome Pack is the first real gameplay DLC released for Dorfromantik!

The puzzle game is also getting a free anniversary update. The update adds to major features: Night Mode, and leaderboards.

When activated, Night Mode turns down the lights, and uses soft blue skies and warm yellow windows. Night Mode is designed when playing in the dark for a more comfortable gaming experience.

The anniversary update also adds integrated leaderboards. For the first time, players can compete with each other’s scores by viewing and filtering rankings within the main menu.

Five years later, Dorfromantik remains one of our favorite single player puzzle games. With a stack of tiles, players place their tiles to complete goals and unlock more tiles before they run out. Toukana has previously released free updates that add new seasonal biomes, such as Midwinter.

Dofromantik is available on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox. A co-op board game adaptation, Dorfromantik: The Board Game, released in 2023. Toukana’s next game, Star Birds, is currently in Steam Early Access.
