Popular learning app, Lingokids, is launching a new career-focused lesson format to introduce kids to real-world professions. The first lesson is titled, “I can be an Astronaut,” and uses STEM education developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
“I can be an Astronaut” explains how we get to space, what astronauts do, how gravity works, and what kind of scientific experiments could be done on the moon. The lesson plan also introduces NASA and the upcoming Artemis II and Artemis III missions. The Artemis II crew are scheduled to depart in February for their flyby around the moon.
Formed in 2017, the Artemis program is designed to reestablish human presence on the moon, including the Lunar Gateway, the first-ever extraterrestrial space station.
Fun (and depressing) fact: Although we first famously landed on the moon with the Apollo 11 in 1969, no one has even traveled to the moon since the early 1970s.
In a recent survey conducted by Lingokids, “astronaut” and “scientist” were two of the top five most popular occupations selected by young kids. Children still yearn for the stars! I wonder if paleontology is in the top five, because mine are crazy about dinosaurs.
“Children start forming ideas about what’s possible for them even before they can read. That’s why it’s so important to introduce STEM careers early when curiosity is at its peak and imagination has no limits,” says Cristóbal Viedma, Founder and CEO, Lingokids. “By giving young kids playful, age-appropriate ways to explore science, space, and technology, we’re helping them see themselves in these fields from the very beginning.”
Throughout 2026, Lingokids will continue expanding the Career Lessons program, including doctors, teachers, veterinarians, and more.
Lingokids is the #1 interactive app designed for young kids. It’s ad-free and offers over3,000 educational activities. Lingokids is available on iOS, Android, and Amazon mobile devices.
