Trails fans won’t have to wait long to continue their adventures in Liberl Kingdom: GungHo Online Entertainment has announced that Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter remake will release in Fall 2026 on Steam PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Switch 2.
Note that the Announcement Trailer includes spoilers from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter directly continues the story from the first game (and remake), following the adventures of Estelle and adopted brother Joshua. As political tension spreads throughout the Liberl Kingdom, Estelle must step up as a young leader.
For players who have save data from 1st Chapter on the same device, they will receive “exciting bonus items” in game.
The original sequel released in 2006, and is the second game in the Liberl trilogy, and part of the overall Legend of Heroes series. The remake rebuilds the JRPG with fully 3D visuals used in the more recent Trails games. The remake also features new Crafts and S-Crafts, a new Brave Rush system for Quick Battles, and updated voice acting in English and Japanese.
Though not the high-selling series in the West, the Trails games are among the most revered JRPGs, known for their high-quality writing, extensive world-building, and lengthy stories spread across multiple games and years. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter was one of the highest overall reviewed games of 2025, with an average 90 score on OpenCritic.
The Standard Edition of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will release Fall 2026. Any special editions have not yet been revealed.
The Trails games are rated T for Teen.
