After recently announcing the release date for Pokémon Pokopia, The Pokémon Company have released a new extended trailer. The 10-minute long trailer reveals new gameplay details for the upcoming cozy life sim spinoff.

In Pokémon Pokopia, players play as a lost Ditto, the blob-like shapeshifting Pokémon. Ditto transforms into a funny-looking human, but can still talk to Pokémon. Professor Tangrowth acts as a guide for restoring the wild land into a thriving Pokémon village.

By creating certain areas, players can attract specific Pokémon. The trailer reveals placing a fishing rod and a chair near water will spawn a Magikarp.

The Ditto player can learn important moves from found Pokémon to clear, craft, and build. For example, Squirtle’s Water Gun move can be used to water crops and trees. Hitmonchan’s punches can clear rocks, Charmander’s flames can light fires, and Drilbur’s digging can till land for planting.

Certain Pokémon will even let Ditto transform into them to access new areas, such as Lapras across water, or Charizard through the air.

Pokémon will also have requests and tasks, such as reaching new areas, or freeing them from predicaments.

After watching the trailer, the gameplay looks like a fun combination of Animal Crossing, Dragon Quest Builders, and a dash of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.

The trailer confirmed four player online and local multiplayer, and supports GameShare. GameShare allows up to two players to play together on two systems, needing only one copy of the game. Interestingly, GameShare for Pokopia also works with a second player playing on an original Switch, though the game is releasing exclusively on Switch 2.

Pokémon Pokopia will release on March 5, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are available now.
