One of the most iconic games of the 2000s is getting its flowers in Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, out now on PC (Steam, Epic, EA), PlayStation 4/5, Switch 1/2, and Xbox O/XS ($19.99).

Replanted updates the original lane-based tower defense game with upscaled HD graphics. The remaster also adds challenging new game modes, and now supports local co-op. Alternatively, one player can control the zombie side for special PvP matches (local only).

Also, the 3D animations in the new launch trailer are kinda ridiculously impressive!

On Switch 2, Replanted supports GameShare, allowing multiple players to play together over wireless connection using a single copy of the game.

I have nothing but the fondest memories of this classic tower defense game, from its simple sun-based economy to the cutesy characters on both sides. The end credit theme songs, “Zombies on Your Lawn,” is a certified banger.

The original game released in 2009 by PopCap Seattle, and acquired by Electronic Arts. The series quickly became a big success, spawning sequels and spinoffs, and the third-person shooter series, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Hopefully we’ll get a nice Garden Warfare remaster some day.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is rated E10+ with Mild blood, Fantasy Violence, and Simulated Gambling.
