Annapurna Interactive has announced a digital showcase, Annapurna Digital Showcase, scheduled for Tuesday, September 23 at 5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern. The Direct will feature three previously unannounced games.
The publisher will attend the Tokyo Game Show that following weekend, Sept 25-28, where the three newly announced games will be playable for the first time.
The three new games are developed by Yarn Owl, Iridium Studios, and Marumittu Games.
Annapurna first announced a publishing deal with new developer Yarn Owl back in 2022.
Iridium Studios previously made Before the Echo, a rhythm-based RPG, and There Came an Echo, an RTS using voice recognition. Their website lists an unannounced RPG. Perhaps with “Echo” in the title?
Marumittu Games is based in Tokyo, Japan, and previously released Idle Clicker game, Captain StarONE.
Annapurna Interactive is the gaming division of Annapurna Pictures, and specializes in emotional and creative indie games, such as What Became of Edith Finch, and Kentucky Route Zero. Their most notable release is the time-loop sci-fi adventure, Outer Wilds, which was totally robbed at the Game Awards in 2019.
Recently, Annapurna announced a publishing deal with The Lego Group, and released Lego Voyagers, a co-op platformer starring literal bricks.
Though the publisher has cultivated a successful following over the years, Annapurna suffered from mass resignations in Fall 2024. IGN has a solid write-up of the drama, including leadership problems, communication issues, lack of transparency, and a company split that never materialized.
Notably, Annapurna did not do a showcase in 2024.
Annapurna Digital Showcase will air on September 23.
