Epictellers Entertainment and Paizo announced the addition of Neil Newborn (Baldur’s Gate 3) as voice director for upcoming sci-fi RPG, Starfinder: Afterlight. Afterlight is set to release next year via Steam Early Access, with a Kickstarter campaign launching this October.
As the voice director, Newborn is in charge of all voice actor casting and delivery.
Surely the award-winning actor would also provide some voice work as well?
The announcement also revealed two of the six party members for the party-based tactical RPG, and their voice actors.
Kole is a Vesk Soldier, a hulking reptilian brute and a wannabe action hero. He’s voiced by prolific voice actor Fred Tatasciore, who does a lot of bulky/monstrous voices such as Devil Dinosaur (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur) and Hulk (Marvel Rivals).
Then there’s Tycho, a Ysoki operative, basically similar to Rocket Racoon from Guardians of the Galaxy, but more rat-like (but same trust issues). He’s voiced by Inel Tomlinson, who has done lots of voice work for Final Fantasy 16, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and various UK animated shows.
I’m going to go out on a limb, and guess the other party members are all different ancestries in the Starfinder universe. That’s usually how these RPGs work!
Afterlight is based on the Starfinder tabletop RPG system, which is like a sci-fi version of Dungeons & Dragons. The system is designed by Paizo, best known for Pathfinder (which is basically D&D). Pathfinder has been adapted to two major RPG releases over the years, by Owlcat games.
Starfinder: Afterlight is the first RPG based on the Starfinder system (specifically, second edition). The Kickstarter campaign is set to launch this October.
