During the latest Pokémon Presents showcase, The Pokémon Company revealed new puzzle game, Pokémon Friends. Pokémon Friends is free to download on iOS and Android mobile devices, and $9.99 on Nintendo Switch/Switch 2.
Pokémon Friends features over 1,200 brainteaser puzzles, inspired by the world and characters of Pokémon. By completing puzzles, players earn yarn. Yarn is then used with the Plush-O-Matic to create cute Pokémon plushies from 150 options. These plush toys can be used to decorate the players’ rooms, including furniture and wallpaper customization.
Players can also tackle friend quests, and track their daily progress with stamps.
The puzzle game is family-friendly, including five different save files so one family can share a single device. Friends also includes a built-in feature that limits the number of puzzles a player can complete. Though frankly, I’m good with my kids solving colorful puzzles with their free time!
Why is the Switch version $10 and the mobile version free? The Switch version includes the Basic Pack, which features unlimited daily puzzles, plus 20 more puzzles, 50 more plushies, and an expanded Calendar.
Both version can also purchase optional Puzzle On! Packs, which provide even more puzzles, plushies, and cosmetics.
Pokémon Friends is available now, and rated E for Everyone.
