Talofa Games has released Monster Walk via Early Access in certain mobile markets. It’s not yet available in the US, but should be arriving later this year on Android and iOS.
From the studio who developed popular mobile fitness app, Run Legends, Monster Walk combines popular RPG elements with energy powered by taking steps. As someone who sits at a desk and works all day (poor me), an RPG that motivates me to move around sounds like a great fit.
Monster Walk is not an AR-game and doesn’t use GPS (like Pokémon GO and its many clones). It tracks movement via your phone or wearable device. By working out, taking walks, or simply moving around, players build up their energy reserve and collect resources.
Players then use their collected resources and energy to explore the fantasy world, battle and befriend monsters, and build them a base.
The trailer showcases a lot of different gameplay elements, such as arcade boss battles, resource-driven base-building, and maybe part dating sim?
Who of us hasn’t wanted to date some of our Pokémon?
As a fitness app RPG, Monster Walk features step goals, daily rewards, seasonal events, and an optional real time mode for chasing monsters.
“Monster Walk is a welcoming RPG experience designed for the next generation of gamers, no matter their fitness level,” said Jenny Xu, CEO, Talofa Games. “It’s about turning everyday movement into something joyful and rewarding. It is the next step in our vision of making games for good.”
