Educational app Lingokids has published a new Summer of Tech study for 2025. The study reveals statistics regarding screen time among kids 2-8, as well as parents’ thoughts and concerns of increased screen time during the summer months.

Nearly all surveyed parents (91%) report their kids spending an additional hour or more on screens during the summer. The use of educational apps (such as Lingokids) has increased compared to last year’s study, rising from 66% to 72%.

Over 60% of parents admit that technology alleviates their schedules, makes traveling easier, and helps prepare their kids for our increasingly digital world.

Parents also yearn for “specialized screen time guidelines,” specially for summer months, and over 81% support a ranking system for children’s screen content.

I particularly enjoyed the “Parents Looking for Guidance + Guilt-Free Screen Time” section of the report. The section reveals that kids’ usage of video streaming and gaming apps are also on the rise, and half of parents remain concerned about the content their kids are exposed to on YouTube. Screen use with kids also leads to guilt among parents: 77% feel judged for allowing screen usage, despite that survey’s findings that half of parents believe screen time is beneficial when properly managed.

“Traditionally, parents have faced the difficult task of sourcing child screen time options that are educational, entertaining, and safe all at once,” said Cristobal Viedma, Founder and CEO, Lingokids. “They often feel caught between two extremes: content their kids enjoy but they feel guilty about, and content they approve of but kids won’t engage with on their own. Lingokids bridges the gap between content kids love and content parents trust. With expertly crafted learning paths, interactive games, and a 100% ad-free environment, it’s the #1 guilt-free screen time choice for today’s families.”

The 2025 Summer of Tech study surveyed a group of 1,000 parents who had at least one child aged 2-8, across the United States.

Lingokids is the top rated interactive app designed for children aged 2-8. It’s available on Amazon, Apple, and iOS mobile devices.
