On the 39th anniversary of the original Dragon Quest release in Japan, Square Enix announced the release date for Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake. The classic JRPG remakes will release on October 30 on Steam PC, PlayStation, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox.

Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake features full remakes of the first two Dragon Quest games with the popular, retro-inspired HD-2D style. In addition to the welcome graphical boost, players can enjoy a “refined” battle system, as well as new story additions and other new content.

The first two games in the long-running series completes the Erdrick Trilogy that began with Dragon Quest 3, which is a prequel. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake released last year on PC and consoles.

For players who haven’t picked up Dragon Quest 3 yet, you can grab the Erdrick Trilogy Collection, which includes both Remake releases (and all three games) for $99.99 (digital only).

Players with existing data from the Dragon Quest 3 remake can also unlock bonus content in Dragon Quest 1 and 2 remakes: a dog suit in DQ 1 and a cat suit for DQ 2.

In addition to the Standard Edition, Square Enix also offers a Collector’s Edition ($149). The Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake Collector’s Edition includes the physical game, character and monster blocks set, digital wallpaper, and the Outstanding Outfit Kit DLC.

Pre-orders are now available, and include the free Trouble Free Travel DLC, which features several stat-boosting items.

Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake has not yet been rated, but Dragon Quest 3 was rated E10+.
