Electronic Arts revealed their next Star Wars game, Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based tactical game a la XCOM. Zero Company is developed by Bit Reactor with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, and it’s arriving in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Zero Company is set during the Clone Wars era, crica Star Wars Episode III, about 20 years before the Original Trilogy.
The customizable protagonist, Hawks, commands a squad of mercenaries and soldiers known as Zero Company. Soldiers include a variety of class types and abilities, including Clone Troopers, droids, and Jedi.
Players take their customizable squads on turn-based, tactical missions. Judging by the final 10 seconds of the reveal trailer, it looks satisfyingly XCOM-y!
Like Fire Emblem, squadmates can form bonds that unlock special bonuses. Between missions, Zero Company can customize recruits and gather intelligence for future missions at their home base.
“Our vision for Star Wars Zero Company is grounded in gameplay design pillars that weave in the immersive Star Wars galaxy with engaging turn-based tactics gameplay,” said Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director, Bit Reactor. “It’s our aim to deliver a game with an original Star Wars story from the Clone Wars era that has meaningful outcomes from player choices, and deep turn-based tactical combat with an approachable and cinematic presentation.”
The XCOM series is beloved by turn-based tactics fans, and a Star Wars theme could be the perfect fit. The developers of Bit Reactor includes developers from Firaxis Games (makers of the XCOM reboot series).
Star Wars Zero Company will release in 2026 on PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation, and Xbox.
