Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is an upcoming turn-based strategy game, developed by indie studio Strange Scaffold. You can download the demo right now on Steam during Steam Next Fest.

Tactical Takedown appears inspired by the original cartoon, judging by the OG designs of the Turtles. The story teases a darker turn, with Shredder and Splinter both dead, and the Turtles beginning to grow up and drift apart. Young Adult Mutant Ninja Turtles doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, though.

The strategy game blends turn-based strategy with the more familiar TMNT genre of beat ’em up brawler. Each Turtle has their own moves and supermoves, as players maneuver themselves and enemies for maximum damage.

The animation and character design is inspired by miniature war games, with miniature figures on little stands, with comic book-like colors, cutscenes, and dialogue.

The demo includes the tutorial, as well as a modified version of the first chapter, as the Turtles take on the Foot Clan.

Turtles fans have been eating good lately, with excellent co-op brawlers such as Shredder’s Revenge and Splintered Fate.

The demo will remain available through Steam Next Fest, which ends March 3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown will release later this year on Steam PC.
