Sonic X Shadow Generations has received new DLC that ties into the recent feature film, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack is part of the Digital Deluxe Edition, and can also be purchased separately ($5.99).

The Movie Pack stars Shadow in a new level inspired by the movie, with Shadow racing along the streets of Sibuya. The level features two optional challenges, but only one Act (making it shorter than other levels). The DLC also includes a new skin for Shadow to mirror his movie appearance. The new skin can only be used during the new level, though, which is a big bummer.

But hey, the Movie Pack features Keanu Reeves doing the voice work for Shadow. Reeves also voices Shadow in the film, which is some truly inspired casting.

The Movie Pack was never meant to be a big DLC release, but considering the success of the films, perhaps a tiny bit more effort could have been made?

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a 2-in-1 platformer that combines a remaster of Sonic Generations with the all-new Shadow Generations. The game uses a mix of 2D and 3D platforming gameplay, along with bombastic cinematic cutscenes that dive into Shadow’s storyline.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is available on PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox consoles, and rated E10+.

Produced by Paramount Pictures and directed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 stars Jim Carrey, Ben Scwhartz, Keanu Reeves, Idris Ebla, Colleen O’Shaughnessey and James Marsden. It’s rated PG.
