One of our favorite turn-based strategy games is getting even bigger. Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios have announced Expansion Pass 2 for Age of Wonders 4 ($49.99), with four new DLC packs, including one available right now.
The four new packs are:
- Herald of Glory: adds some hero items and a society trait (available now with Expansion Pass 2).
- Ways of War: new samurai-inspired Oathsworn Culture, Simian and Ogrekin forms, and four new magic tomes (November 5).
- Giant Kings: New Giant ruler type and more map dwellings and regions (Q2 2025).
- Archon Prophecy: New Celestial Culture, prophecy events, and story content (Q3 2025).
The other three DLC packs will also be available separately, with Ways of War at $14.99, and Giant Kings and Archon Prophecy priced at $19.99 each.
I think it’s a mistake to view Expansion Pass 2 as including four DLC packs, as the Herald of Glory is super tiny, adding a few new hero items. It’s more like a teaser for Archon Prophecy.
Age of Wonders 4’s first expansion pass was really darn good, with four meaty, well-received post-launch DLC packs, including playable dragon lords, eldritch nightmare realms, and new story campaign scenarios.
Age of Wonders 4 is a 4X strategy game set in a fantasy world. Players generate their own culture, leader, society, and traits, then build, expand, conquer, and progress through large maps filled with explorable locations and tactical battles.
Though Age of Wonders 4: Expansion Pass 2 is available now (with Herald of Glory), the first real DLC launches on November 5. The strategy game is available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and currently on sale on Steam (including all previous DLC) as part of the Turn-Based RPG Fest. It’s rated T for Teen.
